Champion Team – P10 Select
In 2016 the LROC series featured four teams competing against each other for the first time. After sitting a year out, The Cool Pool returned to LROC Series under their new name, The Fantasy Sport Site. They would face off against MGTNFRL who returned for the second year, Lucky Dog Racing and the defending champions, P10 Select.
Since there were four teams for the first time, that also meant a new record for most players in a season with 24. Some new players were able to participate for the first time in the series as well. Making their debuts were Shane Burton for Lucky Dog Racing, Rodger Pitts for P10 Select, Matt Minnich, Steve Ruth and Jim VanDeventer for the Fantasy Sport Site and Jeff Lovelady for MGTNFRL.
That brought the total to 91 players that have participated in LROC over 11 seasons.
P10 Select had a consecutive championship in mind for the first race of the season. They started the season back on top after winning the first race. They would swap the lead a few times with Lucky Dog Racing throughout the year but towards the end they set themselves up to win for the second year in a row and tie Lucky Dog Racing with their 4th championship. They finished the season with 9 race wins and also had one of their drivers go to victory lane 9 times.
Lucky Dog Racing won the final race of the season and finished just 76 points behind in second place. They had 6 teams wins for the season and 2 winners. They lost the championship, but had one of their drivers win the driver’s title. Randy Cook won a close battle to win the championship for the first time. Steve Ruth finished in 2nd and Rodger Pitts 3rd. Three of the four teams had a driver in the top three spots.
The Fantasy Sport Site finished in 3rd place in their return. They did manage to get one team victory for the season. That was one more than MGTNFRL did who went winless for two seasons in a row. They finished in fourth place and hope that the third time is the charm next season to finally get a victory.
